Point Reyes Seashore & Lighthouse

Information taken from Pacific Coast Lighthouses Publication:
Point Reyes National Seashore - 1870
Located on the westernmost point of Point Reyes peninsula.  The 37-foot tower with it's 1st order rotating Fresnel lens clings to a cliff 250-feet above the sea warning ships of danger.

August 2004
The drive to this lighthouse is quite long, but well worth it.  Point Reyes National Seashore is beautiful.  We made the trip twice.  The first time we visited the fog had set in and we couldn't see a thing.  It was after 4:30pm (closing time) so all we could see from the top was fog.  We made the trip a second time and it was a beautiful day.  The trip down to the lighthouse is not as bad as the trip back up.  It is equivalent to a 30-story building.  I'd love to go back again with my better camera but plan to get there early.
